Pro-Tec Equipment | Large Diameter/Pipe Vaults
large dam pipe vaultsslide rail system

Just as large diameter pipe and vaults require special equipment to haul and place them, they also require special trench shoring and shield equipment to keep your crews safe while installing them. Depending upon the amount of vertical clearance required for the project, Pro-Tec Equipment has multiple options for you.

Equipment Needs

High Clearance Arch

The High Clearance Arch (HCA) system, when paired with an 8’ tall trench shield, provides 8’ of vertical pipe clearance. When paired with a 10’ tall shield, the HCA provides 10’ of vertical pipe clearance. The HCA System comes with full range of bolt-on extensions to provide you the width that is required for your project. Pro-Tec Equipment recommends that the length of the extensions used be equal to the diameter of the pipe or vault. This will provide 18” of clearance on either side of the pipe or vault.

Ultra High Clearance Arch

For those projects that require even greater vertical pipe clearance than 10’, Pro-Tec Equipment offers the Ultra High Clearance Arch (UHCA) System. This system utilizes two stacked trench shields, providing up to 14’ of vertical pipe clearance. Again, Pro-Tec Equipment recommends that the length of the extensions used be equal to the diameter of the pipe or vault. This will provide up to 24” of clearance on either side of the pipe or vault.

Linear Slide Rail Shoring System

In cases were large-diameter pipe and vaults need to be installed in locations that offer long pipe runs in poor soil conditions or in tight conditions, Pro-Tec Equipment may recommend the use of our Linear Slide Rail Shoring System. This versatile system is able to adapt to each particular project's needs and requirements.

Every project is unique, with different depths and other extenuating circumstances, such as: soil conditions, water levels, existing utilities and other parameters. Please contact your local Pro-Tec Trench Shoring and Shielding provider with as many details as possible to ensure you are matched with the best trench shield or shoring equipment to fit your project's particular needs.
